School of Communication Studies junior applied communication major, Austin Hartsel, is using skills learned in the classroom to assist with fundraising efforts for his friend, David Bakos. Bakos was diagnosed with stage four adenocarcinoma in December 2014. 鈥淒avid is the nicest person you鈥檒l ever meet; the last person on his mind is always himself,鈥 Hartsel said. 鈥淏ut, he has the worst luck.鈥 After his diagnosis, Bakos started going to the Cleveland Clinic to visit sick children. Public communication studies major Dominique Freeman recently researched the topic of skin bleaching among Nigerian women as a McNair Scholar. The McNair Scholars Program prepares first-generation, low-income, undergraduate students, from groups underrepresented in graduate schools, for doctoral study. The Centennial Award Celebration began in 2010 and has honored three outstanding individuals each year for their success and contribution to the field of communication. Congratulations to senior communication studies major Amanda Bevington for being named the 2015 Homecoming Queen. The announcement occurred during half-time of the Homecoming game against the Miami RedHawks on Oct. 3. In addition to Bevington, senior communication studies major Hannah Firsdon was also a part of the 2015 Homecoming court. The 2015 Homecoming King is Terry Hugo III, a business administration major. 黄色直播 Police announce the indictments of two suspects for setting fire to two 黄色直播 ROTC vans parked near Terrace Hall on the Kent Campus on Feb. 23, 2015.  Emilio O. Vidal, 23, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and Evan M.K. Ecklund, 20, of Lakewood, Ohio, have been indicted.
