The MPower Men of Color Summit provided attendees the opportunity to connect and celebrate during a schedule that consisted of educational workshops, brunch and a formal gala and awards banquet.

After 24 years of teaching English, Tammy Clewell, Ph.D., has some advice for students: “Bring your most curious version of yourself to every class that you attend.” Clewell's student-centered, passionate approach gives her students room to grow and has earned her one of the 2023 Distinguished Teaching Awards.   

��ɫֱ��’s School of Peace and Conflict Studies and School of Communications Studies are collaborating on an event to bring students together to talk about the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. 

��ɫֱ�� invites all to pay tribute to those who have served in the U.S. armed forces and attend the university’s annual Veterans Day Commemoration. The event will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Student Green on the Kent Campus.

“If you come in as an instructor and you really like what you're doing, you enjoy the classroom. You enjoy the class and the students pick up on it,” Jeffrey Osikiewicz, Ph.D., said. “They give it back to you. It goes for every classroom, and it makes for a beautiful experience.” This is his domino effect.

Pratyusha Ghanta’s presentation "Stopping Lung Cancer in its Tracks" earned her third place in ��ɫֱ��’s fall 2023 Three Minute Thesis competition. 

Todd Kamenash, associate dean of students for conduct and community engagement, weighs in about what might change at ��ɫֱ�� if Issue 2, the Marijuana Legalization Initiative, is approved.  

��ɫֱ�� recognizes alumni who, through leadership, character and hard work, are making a difference. During Homecoming Weekend, 10 Golden Flashes were presented with Alumni Awards, and nine alumni received Lifetime Achievement recognitions from the university’s Black Alumni Chapter.

��ɫֱ��'s Brain Health Research Institute hosted its 11th Annual Neuroscience Symposium on Oct. 26-27, where speakers and presenters from academia and private industry discussed the field of brain-machine interface.
